CENTRAL MILAN LOCATION
Milan may not be the capital of Italy but it is the business capital and one of the principal cities in Europe. The city of Milan is situated in the north of Italy resting on the plains of Lombardy. Unknown to most, the city was thought to have been settled by the Celts around 600BC. Then in 222BC, it was taken by the Romans as a stronghold for their western empire. In the long years to come it would also be the target of both French and Austrian interest until it regained independence in 1859. In the Second World War it suffered severe bombing, destroying large parts of the city.
La Scala Theatre
Milan is renowned for its famous La Scala Theatre and the Duomo, which is one of the largest churches in the world, only second in size in Italy in that of St Peter’s in Rome. Mark Twain said of Milan’s Duomo, “What a wonder. So grand, so solemn and so vast and yet so delicate, so airy, so graceful”.
Walking distance of the Duomo
The Brunelleschi Hotel is located within walking distance of the Duomo square, La Scala Opera house and the best shopping in Milan and arguably the world – Via Montenapoleone. Our address is Via Baracchini, 12. We are but a five minute walk from Missori metro station and the No 54 bus passes directly opposite the hotel.
